For cut-off operations and a wide variety of other turning operations where they can be ground for specialty shapes.  For threading, turning small radii, or ground as other specialty cutters for other operations.  Use where moderately heavy cuts are required or where high heat is a factor, such as forgings, castings, and other similar materials.
